As a professional tour operator people often ask me what goes on at Oktoberfest in Germany. Well, if there’s one thing there is absolutely no shortage of at Oktoberfest; it’s beer and food.
Outside the Oktoberfest beer tents are endless stands of must-try, mouth-watering foods that are perfect for a short break between Steins. There are masses of stands selling fish burgers, crepes, pretzels, and hotdogs with sauerkraut and any type of Bavarian sausage you can think of. Be it, Bratwursts, Bierwursts, Weisswursts or Weinerwursts – you name it – they’ve got it all. For a more traditional Oktoberfest experience, you can also order a tasty Bavarian meal inside the beer tents.
Not sure what to order? Grab a half chicken (always cooked to perfection), with sides of Blaukraut (braised red cabbage) and Kartoffelknödel (German potato dumplings).
