A Tempting, Tipsy Tradition
Although the Oktoberfest grounds are packed with rides, games and cheesy souvenirs, the real party usually starts and ends in the heart of the beer tents.
The tents open at 10am and close around 11pm, with last drinks served at 10pm. Each brewery (local to Munich) sets up their tent with a different theme, presenting Oktoberfest patrons with elaborate colors and decorations to drink under. Each tent squeezes in around 10,000 travellers and locals alike, most dressed in traditional German attire, and all spilling their steins to slightly tone-deaf sing-a-longs to a traditional German Brass Band.
